THEATRE

From a very early age I spent a lot of time in theatres. At the age of 11 I discovered the role of “lighting designer” whilst participating in a theatre summer course. I was excited to find my way of entertaining an audience without being on the stage.

From the age of 11 until I left school I spent all of my free time in QEH theatre Bristol, The Tobacco Factory theatres and the Bristol Old Vic. This gave me the opportunity to observe professional lighting designers, work with the equipment and also create my own lighting designs. Aged 17 I lit “Through the Wire” by Catherine Johnson, which lead onto Jethro Tull asking me to go on tour with them.

With my concert touring career I adapt a lot of techniques styles used in theatre lighting design. I am also able to use the concert touring techniques in my theatre lighting designs. I can draw the theatre in 3D visualization software and even start to program the lighting cues in the rehearsal rooms, making the tech and dress stress free.
